Most of the issues with non-caucasians in Russia stem from people from the Caucasian republics (Chechnia, Azerbajan) and other former republics of the Soviet Union.
However, Indians are generally very highly regarded for their education as most of the Indians working in Moscow are scientists or engineers.
So, you should feel very comfortable travelling to Moscow with your friend.
