You are a brave girl! I went through russia a few years ago and its a pretty tough place. its wise to seek a travel companion - preferably male.
I went solo with no rooski but a berlitz book and had a wild wild time, near disaster on several occasions. people are friendly but you find yourself in crazy situations where you have to trust complete strangers with your bags, and life ! oh....russians dont thik like westerners do an most things can be very confusing. above all dont panic. if you have any questions i would be happy to help out in any way i can. im a new zealander who is half irish...bye!
Anyway, i am off there again next week en route to shanghai.
